Bandit might know, looking for info on GM part 547420, seen on the left in this pic:
Its the plate with the holes in it.
Do I need it? What is it? Should I ask on a proper Trans Am forum?

i'd say either an access panel or side bracket that holds a front bumper component... but there would be 2 not 1 if that were the case.

get rid of it. Less parts to rattle.

I have two others, they appear to be left and right. Just wasn't sure if I need another? I have too many extra parts...

could be used for holding the front crash bar behind the bumper

Believe it or not but my car was one pretty much identical to yours, except for the front bumper. And as I've had mine pretty much disassembled into atoms, I can honestly say that I've never seen that part before. Which means that it's either something for the front bumper assembly or something that sits behind the dash (a place that I've never been).

Its pretty rusty.... looks like it came from outside. Fender close-off panel perhaps? I may try asking on a T/A forum later.

Sounds like a good idea.

I know! That is a panel that goes on the core support butting up against the inner fender towards the front of the car. It is the lower section of the wheel well. Sorry I don't have a picture of the location. I sand blasted mine a while back, they love to rust out. Sorry about the late response, I had swim practice and school.

It's okay, I knew you'd answer <3
I have two good ones, and this rusty one in my pile of junk/sell stuff.
Need one of these by any chance?
Probably not, since your car is running already, and I forgot what carb you're using.

I needed one of those. I went to autozone and bought a piece of junk one for $25. You need that spacer of you run an edelbrock carb on a quadrajet manifold or vice versa. I am nervous about the fitment of my shaker scoop now.

Good point. Might be why my car had a cowl hood on it. Or, y'know, because hot rod.
